1. All Competition entries must be made via the
Digital Midlands web portal (www.digitalmidlands.org.uk). Entries
made by any other means are invalid. Entrants may wish to use
the free "Peoples Network" computers available in Libraries,
if necessary, to submit their entry.
2. In exceptional circumstances the judges will, at their discretion,
accept entries by post. You must contact the Digital Midlands
Project Co-ordinator to arrange this in advance (see Contact page).
This competition seeks to promote use of the Digital Midlands
websites and the Internet in general. However, the judges would
not wish to exclude persons with genuine reasons for being unable
to enter via the Digital Midlands web portal.
3. Entries must be received between the start and end dates of
the Competition. The end date will be 30th April 2004 (extended
from 31st March). The judges reserve the right to extend the end
date if they deem this appropriate.
4. Entrants must provide all requested details when entering the
Competition. It is essential that name and contact details are
entered correctly and unambiguously. It is particularly important
that full and proper postal addresses are given - including "Country"
if outside the UK.
5. Only one entry will be accepted per person. A maximum of 8
entries will be accepted per postal address. This allows different
family members to enter individually from one postal address.
The judges will apply sophisticated filtering software to identify,
and invalidate, multiple entries from the same postal address
(if in excess of the figure mentioned above).
6. Entrants for this Competition can be of any age. However, children
under the age of 11 must first obtain permission from a parent
/ guardian. The latter must consider the suitability of the prizes
for children.
7. The Competition is open to both UK and Overseas residents.
However, Overseas winners are responsible for checking that the
prizes are compatible with local electrical standards etc. The
prizes on offer are compatible with UK standards.
8. The judges do not accept responsibility for entries that are
lost due to any failing of the Internet, hardware/software or
other facilities required for the running of the Competition.
9. The judges will, at their sole discretion, invalidate any entry
which they feel has failed to abide by these rules. The judges
decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. The prize winners will be randomly selected shortly after
the close of the Competition. This will be done by the panel of
judges. Only the prize winners will be contacted personally.
11. There will be a maximum of one prize per prize winner.
12. Winners will be contacted by post. The names of all winners
will be announced on the Digital Midlands web portal. This will
only include the winners name and general location (e.g. Miss
B. Smith, Bolton, UK).
13. All correspondence and prizes will be posted to the name and
address details given by each winner in their entry form. The
judges accept no responsibility for prizes lost in the post or
failing to arrive for any other reason. Proof of posting is taken
as proof of delivery.
14. Prizes must be taken as stated. There will be no alternative
prizes in cash or any other form.
15. If contact can not be established with a prize winner within
a reasonable time period the judges will, at their discretion,
randomly select an alternative prize winner from the Prize Draw
entrants.
16. Entrants must supply full details as required above, and comply
with all rules to be eligible for the prizes. Entrants will be
deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by
them by virtue of entering the Competition.
17. This Competition is not open to any individual, or their immediate
family, who has been employed or engaged in connection with any
of the seven projects that constitute the Digital Midlands Consortium.
18. This competition is not open to any individual, or their immediate
family, who has been employed or engaged by the New Opportunities
Fund in connection with the EnrichUK digitisation programme.
19. The judges reserve the right to cancel the competition at
any stage, or to modify it, if deemed necessary and if adverse
circumstances arise outside of their control. Any changes will
be posted on the web portal.
20. We will not publish entrants' contact details (other than
as mentioned in rule 12) or provide contact details to a third
party.
21. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
